Six Weeks Before Move:

  • Call for moving estimates.
  • Call the Chamber Of Commerce and Visitors & Convention Bureau in your new town and get their new resident information packages.

  • Remove all items from basement, storage sheds, attics, and plan a garage sale or charity donation for all items you don't want to move.
  • Start using things up that you can't move, like cleaning supplies and frozen food.
  • Discuss tax-related moving expenses, liabilities, and deductions with your tax advisor.
  • Make a list of all people/organizations to contact about change of address.
  • Complete U.S. Postal Service change of address forms and mail them to all applicable publications, stores and organizations.
  • Get copies of (or arrange for transfer at both ends of move) all school, medical, dental, veterinary, legal, and accounting records.
  • Contact insurance agents to transfer or cancel coverage.
  • If it's a company move, check with your employer to find out what moving expenses they cover.
  • Get a mail subscription for the local paper in your new location to familiarize yourself with the new community, its activities and issues.
  • Locate and obtain all automobile licensing and registration information.

Four Weeks Before Move:

  • Get an itemized list of all moving related costs and review with mover, including packing, loading, special charges, insurance, vehicles (if needed), etc.
  • Contact all current and new location utility companies (gas, water, electric, cable TV, phone & trash collection) to set connect/disconnect dates. Remember to keep current utilities hooked up until move day.
  • Make arrangements for relocation of pets and plants.
  • Move valuables to safe deposit box to prevent loss during move.
  • If you are packing yourself, acquire packing materials/boxes and pack items you won't need for the next month.
  • If professional mover is packing your goods, schedule packing day(s) 1 or 2 days before move.
  • Prepare any mowers, snow blowers, boats, snowmobiles (or other vehicles you won't be using before the move) for the move by servicing and draining gas and oil, to prevent a moving van fire.
  • Repair, send out for re-upholstery, or clean furniture, drapes, carpeting as needed.

What my clients are saying

I would recommend Dave Fontana to any one. He is a professional and gives a 100%. He cares about what is important to you. He had listings lined up and ready with our schedule. He is dedicated to finding you the home you are looking for. Dave cares and that is what I seen right away.

Purchasing a house is a big deal and can be very stressful, but Dave does a great job of keeping the process easy and fun! He knows the Orlando and surrounding markets extremely well and will get you into the community that fits your lifestyle. I could not be more happy with choosing Dave as my realtor

~ Tonya Vance

Dave listed my home for sale recently. He was very responsive, knowledgeable and attentive throughout the whole process of the sale. He is easily approachable and has an open and cheerful personality. We had a very smooth selling process and everything went well in a timely way. Would highly recommend him for his excellent interpersonal skills as well as the ability to help you sell your home effectively.

~ John

Dave was a pleasure to work with and helped us sell our home very quickly! We would use him again and again and again, he was great! We would recommend him to any one looking to sell or buy in the Central Florida area, he is very knowledgeable in the market and has a lot of years of experience!

~ Marisa and Tom

Dave has sold two of my homes and was our sales agent for two purchases. I cannot find enough superlatives to describe him. Dave's personality is perpetually positive, but he balances that out with a sense of pragmatism that allows him to provide authentic advice on pricing, as well as needed improvements. On the purchasing side, Dave demonstrates remarkable patience and local area knowledge. He was able to identify properties that met both our preferences and price range. Overall, Dave is knowledgeable, hard working and, most importantly, an honest person you can trust

I recently moved back to Central Florida after living out of state for many years. A "friend of a friend" gave me Dave's name. From our initial phone conversation, Dave impressed me with his knowledge of the local market. I had a long list of "must-haves" and Dave found me properties that met all of my criteria. Even after my offer was made, Dave remained in constant touch to make sure everything went smoothly. A last minute issue with my lender would have deterred others, but Dave had a "plan B" in place to make sure I was able to close on time. Best realtor I have ever worked with.

A big THANK YOU to Dave for helping us on the short sale of our house! Dave is tenacious, determined and like a pitbull when it comes to fighting the banks for your interest. He was there calling the banks several times a week for updates and communication. He kept us informed and educated on the process and "whats next". I honestly wish I would have contracted him years ago to sell that house. I have dealt with several real estate agents and can say without a doubt Dave YOU ARE THE BEST!Angel Perez
